A Six Stone Mirror Carp
Carp fisherman Graham Slaughter, pictured here with his monster mirror carp, caught the 40.18 Kg giant when fishing a lake in Bordeaux, France.
It took him a good twenty minutes to land his prize fish. which weighed 6 stone 3lb's, or 87 lb's (approx).
Graham, 42 of Worksop, Nottinghamshire said "To break the forty kilogram mark is a great feeling."
His friends then gave him a good dunking in the lake during their celebrations.
Kev Jones 38.8lb Mirror Carp
Kev Jones caught his new PB freelining a Fusion boilie to a massive 38.8lb mirror carp. He caught this fish from an undisclosed venue of only 3 acres. Kev did a week long session, with four other fish to show for his efforts, two of which came at exactly the same time and he needed a little help from his carp fishing companion to play one of the carp whilst he landed the other one, giving him a hard earned brace.
On the last day of his week long session, Kev saw some carp moving in the very weedy shallows and decided to try and stalk his quarry. After some light baiting in a small hole in the weed Kev sat back and waited......within half an hour all he could see of his hole in the weed was the silt and mud being churned up and a big tail protruding from the water as the mirror carp mopped up his freebies with confidence and showing no signs of caution.
When the fish moved off, Kev accurately placed his baited rig with another small handful of freebies and was then rewarded with a surprisingly gentle bite which produced this huge carp. He said "playing the carp in the dense weed was difficult because the carp was so strong, but after 10 minutes and some heart stopping moments he managed to land the mighty mirror carp".
Boris Commons Big Mirror
Boris Commons from Gosport landed his new PB in the form of a 32.8lb fully scaled mirror carp. He went to Brockhurst Moat, his local water for a few carp and bream and ended up smashing his previous PB by nearly 10lb.
Boris spent most of the day putting baits to the far side of Brockhurst Moat without a bite and caught this lovely mirror just a few feet out from his own bank. He had been trickling in a few baits to the near bank swim and after noticing the tell tale bubbles of a feeding carp, Boris dropped his boilie baited rig over the top of the bubbles and within a couple of minutes found himself playing new PB carp.
It took Boris 15 minutes to land the fully scaled mirror carp, which put up a very lively struggle in its bid for freedom, but Boris won the day and was very surprised to find a fish of this huge size in his landing net.
Carp Fishing Thoughts
"The landing of any carp should be seen as an achievement, and to capture a particularly wary fish is a truly remarkable event" - John Bailey - an excerpt from his book "Carp Challenge".
